What an In-Office Sinus CT Scan Shows (And Why Your ENT Uses It)| Houston ENT Explains
Hey guys, Dr. Herman here. So something I'm frequently asked is how do we know what's going on inside of our sinuses? Well, we do a CT scan. So here I am in the CT scanner room. You see that's the device right there. And um, that information gets uploaded here in the computer. And then what I do is I look at your images.
So here we have our CT scan and when we're looking at a CT scan. What we're looking at here is anything that soft tissue is this gray. Anything that's bone is this white and air is this black right here, and you can see in this patient, their sinuses for the most part look pretty good. You want your sinuses to be full of black like this, and this is the opening of the sinus.
You want it to be nice and open and draining. Which one This one is. Now looking at that last patient, you can compare with this patient here. As you can see, their sinuses are full of soft tissue, and this is what we might see in a patient who has polyps.
